The Team

James G. Donahue, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Donahue attended medical school in Miami, Florida and graduated in 1989. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Indiana University in 1993 and is Board Certified. Dr. Donahue completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Medical College of Georgia in 1995.

Dr. Donahue has been in private practice in Indianapolis since 1995. Dr. Donahue completed a Master's Degree in Clinical Embryology at the University of Leeds, UK in 2005. This is one of only five programs in the world that has formalized training in Embryology by leaders in our field. Dr. Donahue feels that he will give more, and better quality, care to our patients undergoing IVF by having this extra specialized training.

His medical practice, Family Beginnings, PC has help thousands of patients in Central Indiana over the past 9 years. His practice name tells a lot about its caring professionals. Dr. Donahue is personally involved with all aspects of his patients care and is the only physician in this very busy practice. In late 2002, he moved his office to a larger North side location with an on-site IVF lab, egg retrieval room, and 4 recovery beds. This was done to offer more patients the opportunity to have IVF that might otherwise not try, due to financial considerations.

Dr. Donahue is married. He and his wife of 22 years, Renate, have a 16-year old son, Christian. He was conceived with the help of fertility therapy in 1991, so Dr. Donahue knows first hand what our patients experience. He enjoys race walking Marathons, sailing, and reading.

Sandi Malott, MT (ASCP), ELD (ABB)

Sandi is our IVF laboratory director. She has a BS degree from Indiana University and a Medical technology degree (MT) from Parkview Hospital School of Medical Technology. She has 13 years of experience in Assisted Reproductive Technologies with 6 years in a supervisory position. She is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts as an Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD). This is the newest certification category that deals specifically with Human Embryology and is equivalent to the HCLD certificate with respect to IVF. Prior to coming to Family Beginnings, PC Sandi ran an IVF lab in Ft. Wayne, IN. Sandi is married to Denny and they have several grown children and grandchildren.

Diane Cantwell, MT(ASCP)

Diane is our IVF laboratory technician. She has been working with Assisted Reproduction since 1998 and has done hundreds of cases with Dr. Donahue. Diane enjoys working with all of our patients and has two young sons. She is very involved with quality control and has worked in advanced laboratory settings over the past decade.

Our nurses, Sherrie Eoff, RN and Molly Nogalski, RN

We are very lucky to work with Sherrie and Molly. Both have experience in high risk obstetrics and a great understanding of the medical and emotional aspects of infertility treatment. Our patients come to rely on their compassion and skill. Both are very experience with pelvic ultrasounds, intra-uterine inseminations, and ovulation induction.

Our counselor, Renate Donahue, MSW, LCSW

Renate has over 20 years experience in counseling and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She is available to help couples deal with the stress of infertility and to help them better understand emotional implications of donor eggs and sperm.
